Huddersfield Carnival Guide

Hudds 2So it’s almost that time of year again with Huddersfield carnival right around the corner, despite losing £28,000 grant. This year will mark 30 years of Huddersfield Carnival and organisers are ready.

The event runs over two days each year however this year will not include many of the key crowd drawing events of the previous years due to the budget cuts.

Last year Huddersfield saw a 40,000 strong crowd but organisers are confident that was not be the last time.

Inspired by Caribbean culture the day is energetic fun and entertaining. From the artist to the food and the rich culture is openly celebrated and enjoyed by many.

Unfortunately the traditional carnival Royal show and the carnival J’ouvert procession will not be going ahead this year. Kicking off the two day event is the Friday Night Glow Parade. This events see performers parading in the dark with glow in the dark objects.

With explosive costume designs, infectious soca music and exquisite food its defiantly the carnival to be at this weekend

The main stage will be hosted by MTV base presenter MC Kat and see UK Soca artist such as DeeVine, Triniboi Joocie, Natia Daniels and many more

Throughout the day there will be Mas Bands, African drummers, steel pans a fun fair and much more.Below is the official line up.
